10. Blaškovič, K.: Humanitarian intervention and its relationship to selected public international law institutes

Summary:

HI nowadays seem to be one of the most problematic issues of international public law. This article focused on the most problematic matters of HI and it tried to show that they are in compliance with international law.

Many states reject this doctrin mainly because of the threat of its abuse. On the other hand, there are states supporting this doctine pointing out that it could be one of the most effective tools in case of protecting human rights. Both of these approaches are justified and it is essential to be very careful by using this doctrine just as the last resort. The threat of using HI could discourage leaders of failed states from persecutions of civilians and violations of human rights. Thus it is very important that the HI become accepted part of international public law.
